Director biography
- Rydrea Walker
Rydrea Walker is a Black Deaf filmmaker and the founder of WarriorsGate Entertainment, established in 2012 to amplify Deaf culture through bold, authentic storytelling in Sign Language. His filmmaking journey began in high school, where he released award-winning short films under the name Walker ASL Pictures, before rebranding in 2017 to expand his creative vision and professional impact.
A graduate of the Alabama School for the Deaf and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rydrea co-founded Morpheyes Studio in 2019, a Deaf-led production collective dedicated to empowering Deaf creatives and promoting authentic representation in film. His work spans narrative, educational, and promotional projects, including impactful films for the Indiana School for the Deaf that blend cinematic quality with meaningful community storytelling.
In 2022, Rydrea contributed to a historic Deaf Missions project: the first-ever full-length feature film about Jesus presented entirely in American Sign Language, filmed across multiple states. His latest directorial work, Erased, is a dystopian short thriller exploring silence, control, and resistance, continuing his mission to bring Deaf culture and visually powerful narratives to the big screen.
