Longing Bayshore is a queer poetic short envisioned by Richard Chan, who moved from finance into art. Set against cities shaped by quiet change, it follows a middle-aged man drifting between Hong Kong and Vancouver. Through neon and coastal stillness, he reconnects with a long-muted feminine self. Less a story of departure, the film is a gentle inward return.

Bobby Pan
is a filmmaker and screen artist based in Vancouver and Shanghai. He began his journey in high school with the short Come to an End, which received an Award of Distinction at the Canadian and International Short Film Festival in 2023. His practice centers on realism and the relationship between inner transformation and collective experience, weaving diverse character stories into layered, resonant narratives. With Longing Bayshore, Pan continues to explore how ordinary life can reveal unexpected depths and connections.
Orion Zhang
is a Vancouver- and Beijing-based filmmaker and queer artist. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, he received the Best Experimental Short award at the Vancouver Independent Film Festival for a work exploring consciousness and fluid identity. His recent projects trace intersections of intimacy, comedy, and the supernatural, forging a visual language of vulnerability and cultural critique that seeks to reveal quiet strength.
