After a long day, Mike, a quiet, solitary man, checks into a rundown motel seeking isolation. A cash-filled envelope on the bedside table both reassures and unsettles him. As he smokes and drinks, the thin walls carry echoes of strangers, and the room grows warmer, heavier. This is no night of rest but of waiting - a liminal pause before morning, when a planned, inevitable crime will break the tense silence he endures.
