Miguel Gutierrez, widely known as The Nomad Barber, has built a global career documenting barbering culture and the deeply personal stories tied to identity, resilience, and human connection. Traveling to over 30 countries, he has developed an intimate and visually compelling storytelling style.
With Men-tal, Miguel steps into his first directorial role beyond barber documentaries, turning his focus to mental health. The film offers a raw exploration of masculinity and vulnerability, using personal experiences, candid interviews, and expressive artwork to challenge stigma and trace a journey from isolation to community.
An advocate for mental well-being, Miguel has long used his platform to encourage open conversations within the barbering industry and beyond. Men-tal is a deeply personal project that merges his commitment to authentic storytelling with a mission to inspire honest dialogue and meaningful change.
